So this isn’t exactly a recipe, but more of an idea. With summer in full swing every weekend usually contains some sort of activity. If your family is anything like mine we are always having BBQ’s and making any excuse to get together and eat good food. If you need something to bring to such an activity fruit is always a a great idea on a hot summer day. Its refreshing, healthy and easy to put together. I am all for presentation so I love to serve fruit in iterating ways. This yummy fruit bowl is just a simple way to dress up some juicy melons with little effort and a few tools you probably have around the house!
Directions:
Cut Water melon in half and then slice a sliver of the round part of each half to keep the melon from rolling. Scoop out the flesh using a melon baller. Once you have gotten as much out as possible, scoop the rest out with a large spoon and save for a later use. Cut the honeydew and cantelope in 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch slices and remove the seeds with a spoon. Use bite sized cookie cutters to cut out various shapes, again saving the remaining chunks for a later use. Mix all the melons together and put in your new watermelon bowls. Serve by itself or on a platter with other cut fruit! I will be posting a delicious watermelon salsa recipe later this week so there is no waste and you get two fun side dishes!
