1/2red onionsliced (if you want your onions soft, saute them in a little butter and a tablespoon of balsamic vinegar, just until wilted)
1cupblue or gorgonzola cheese
8-10piecesof lettucetorn
1large tomatoessliced
Blue Cheese Sauce:
1/4cupmayonnaise
2Tbls.sour cream
Salt & pepper to taste
2tsp.balsamic vinegar dressing
2Tbls.green onionssliced
2Tbls.blue cheese crumbles
Instructions
Dice the red onion into small pieces. In a bowl, add the onion, garlic, salt, pepper, worcestershire sauce and ground beef together. Once combined and incorporated, form the beef mixture into 8-10 hamburger patties (depending how large you make them). Heat a griddle or grill to medium-high heat. Grill the patties on a hot grill until the center of the burger is no longer pink and the hamburger is cooked through. While the hamburgers are grilling, make the topping for your burgers.
While the hamburgers are cooking, cook the bacon in your oven on a cookie sheet, or in a pan until golden brown and crispy. Once the bacon is golden brown, remove from the pan and let it rest on a paper towel to drain off the excess grease.
Combine the sauce ingredients together and set aside for the burger.
Once the hamburgers are cooked through, begin to assemble burgers. Spread a generous amount of the blue cheese sauce on both sides of a hamburger bun. Place a piece of lettuce and a tomato on the bottom bun. Place the cooked patty on top of the tomato and then top with a couple slices of bacon, the sautéed onions and more gorgonzola or blue cheese.
