Peppermint Chocolate Chip Cookies

By December 14, 2012No Comments

There is nothing fancy about this recipe, but it is full of festive Christmas flavor. I love peppermint (these Peppermint Brownies and Triple Chocolate Peppermint Cookies are my favorite!), so I loved the idea I saw on Pintrest to add candy canes to chocolate chip cookies. This was a simple trick to turn your everyday chocolate chip cookies into something special this time of year.

I tried a new chocolate chip recipe, but it wasn’t worth sharing. I would stick with our go-to-favorite chocolate chip recipe and just use all white sugar instead of brown & white. This will make for a lighter, prettier cookie with the peppermint.  To that dough all you need to do is add 1/2 c. crushed candycanes and use 1/2 mint chocolate chip cookies instead of all regular milk chocolate chips (I actually used 1/3 mint, 1/3 milk and 1/3 white chocolate chips). We then crushed a few extra candycanes and rolled the top of the cookie in the candy cane crumbs before we put them in the oven and they melted beautifully on top of the cookie. The pretty melted red & white candy makes for a fun cookie you can give away to your family & friends this time of year 😉 Enjoy!
