Frosty’s from Wendy’s are the ultimate treat for my kids. They love saving their money and being able to treat themselves to this cool and refreshing summer treat. We have a Wendy’s just down the street from us, so they were sucking my poor children’s piggy banks dry. One hot afternoon we decided to search the web and come up with our own version of the famous chocolate frosty’s. Now, the most popular recipes on the web used cool whip, sweetened condensed milk and chocolate milk. I don’t know about you, but I rarely have chocolate milk in my fridge (way too cheap for that!) and Cool Whip is not something I keep too many of on hand. So, I decided to come up with a combination that could use food storage ingredients so we could have them any time our hearts desired…without braking the bank.
I have to tell you this recipe nails it!! We have no joke, made at least 20 batches of these frosty’s in the last few weeks. For Mother’s Day Todd was so sweet and surprised me with a Blendtec blender that he got from Costco on their Mother’s Day sale. I have wanted one of these for awhile now and couldn’t be happier! I have used this blender nearly every day and have been amazed at how quick it can whip up an awesome smoothie or shake. If you are not using a Blendtec or Vitamixer, you may want to cut this recipe in half. The 6 cups of ice works great in the Blendtec, but may need to be reduced for a normal sized blender.
Either way, the results are amazing and you will soon be the coolest Mom on the block! This is such a quick and inexpensive treat to serve groups of kids when they are playing at your house on a hot day. There is only a 1/2 cup of sugar for the entire blender full, which isn’t bad considering their is nothing else in it of question. It’s a treat you can feel okay feeding your kids and they are bound to LOVE them, and you!! I have to admit, I love them just as much as the kiddos 🙂
