This recipe for Stroganoff Sandwiches is so nostalgic to our family. My husbands family used to eat this recipe several times a month and it was always so delicious and a fun twist on a traditional stroganoff recipe. It has a creamy beef mixture with sour cream, eaten on soft French bread and covered with cheese and sliced tomatoes. It’s sounds like an unusual combination but it is super delicious and fun to eat.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground beef or turkey
- 1/2 onion chopped
- 2 c. sour cream
- 1-2 T. Worcestershire sauce
- Montreal Steak Seasoning
- Garlic powder
- 1 green bell pepper seeded and sliced
- 3 to matoes sliced
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Loaf of French bread
Instructions
- Dice the onions and green pepper into small pieces. In a large saute pan, brown the hamburger with the onion and drain any excess grease. Add the green bell peppers and saute. Add the sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, and seasonings to meat and onions. Taste the mixture and add more salt and garlic powder as desired. Cut the French bread horizontally and both halves on a cookie sheet. Spread meat mixture on both sides of the bread. Slice the tomatoes and put on top of the French bread and sprinkle the cheese all over the top of the bread. Bake until cheese is melted at 350 for about 10-12 minutes.
