Oatmeal is such a healthy and delicious way to start your day. I love switching up our oatmeal in the morning by adding fresh fruit, freeze dried fruit, spices and different sweeteners.
This oatmeal was another creation that ended up being a delightful hit with all of us.
I used the Thrive Life Freeze Dried Apples that are on sale this week to add some delicious taste and texture. This Cinnamon Apple Oatmeal tasted like apple crisp in a bowl. Besides the apples, I LOVE using Coconut Sugar in my recipes as a replacement for granulated sugar. Coconut Sugar has a deep, caramel, sweet flavor that I love in many recipes and as a topping for my oatmeal.
- 4 cups water
- 2 cups regular oats
- 1 cup freeze dried or fresh apples diced
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- Dash salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 Tbs. coconut sugar or brown sugar
- Almond milk
- In a sauce pan add the water and bring to medium heat. Boil the water and then add the regular oats. Stir constantly. Add the freeze dried (or fresh) apple pieces to the oatmeal and stir until tender and the oatmeal begins to thicken. Add the cinnamon, salt, vanilla and coconut sugar. Turn heat to low and keep warm until ready to serve. Serve oatmeal with almond milk and additional coconut sugar.
