I am always looking for a new and exciting way to serve ground turkey. Whenever ground turkey is on sale I always buy several extra pounds and add it to my freezer. These Turkey Pineapple Street Tacos are such a fun way to serve ground turkey.

The flavors are bold, a little spicy, sweet pineapple and fresh salsa on top. The combination is perfection and such a new twist on a street taco. This recipe is a great recipe to use Thrive Life’s Tomato Powder in the place of tomato sauce. It’s so easy to make and such a great item to have in your food storage. Check it out while it’s on sale this month!

Turkey Pineapple Tacos

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground turkey or diced beef
  • 1/2 red onion diced small
  • 1/4 cup fresh pineapple diced
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce (or you can use Thrive tomato powder & water)
  • 1 Tbs. Montreal Steak Seasoning
  • 1 Tbs. garlic powder
  • 1 Tbs. chili powder
  • 2 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • Pineapple Salsa:
  • 1/2 fresh pineapple diced small
  • 1/2 red onion diced
  • 3 Tbs. cilantro chopped
  • 1 jalapeno pepper diced
  • 1/2 red bell pepper diced
  • Street Taco Flour Tortillas

Instructions

  • Prep the ingredients for the pineapple salsa by dicing a fresh pineapple, chopping the red onion, cilantro, jalapeno pepper and red bell pepper. Set aside some of the pineapple for the beef mixture. Place in a bowl and toss. Salt the salsa as you wish and you can even add some lime juice too if you'd like. Let the salsa rest while you make the turkey mixture. Dice the red onion for the meat mixture. In a saute pan, bring a pan to medium-high heat. Add the olive oil to the pan. Add the red onions and saute until tender. Add the ground turkey to the onions and brown. Add the seasonings to the turkey as well as the diced pineapple. Add the tomato sauce or tomato powder with water and simmer with meat. Warm the tortillas and add some cooked turkey ground meat to the taco and top with the pineapple salsa. Serve warm.
  • THRIVE LIFE RECIPE OPTION: If you are using Thrive Life Ground Turkey, put the dried meat into a bowl. Add water and let rest for a few minutes until tender. If you are not using Thrive Turkey, in a saute pan cook one pound of ground turkey until golden brown and crumbled. Prep the ingredients for the pineapple salsa by dicing a fresh pineapple, chopping the red onion, cilantro, jalapeno pepper and red bell pepper. Set aside some of the pineapple for the beef mixture. Place in a bowl and toss. Salt the salsa as you wish and you can even add some lime juice too if you'd like. Let the salsa rest while you make the turkey mixture.
